When COVID-19 closed the trade show industry for two years, event suppliers lost large chunks of their workforce.
Many did not return, electing instead to stay working elsewhere.
Now trade shows are booming.
Businesses worldwide urgently want to make up for sales lost during lockdown.
The situation has piled massive pressure on event suppliers.
The best are turning work away from late booking exhibitors.
And here, we’re not talking about requests for simple stands and graphics.
One short deadline enquiry was for a 200sqm stand in a flagship event.
The supplier turned the job down, and not reluctantly either.
With their order book at full capacity, there was no way to produce the stand within the time available.
Further, the supplier wanted to maintain the quality of work for contracts already agreed.
They were also not prepared to put their staff under further pressure.
It’s an unhappy situation for both parties and one you’ll do well to avoid.
If you’ve confirmed participation at an event, talk to your supplier (or find one) ahead of your usual timeframe.
You and they don’t need the stress.
Very best,
