Do you have something that needs turning around?
It could be falling sales, low uptake of marketing offers or even your management team.
Challenges like these can seem daunting.
That’s because there appears to be so much to do and so little time in which to do it.
And that’s where a lesson from gardening can help.
Let’s say you decide to get around to a makeover of your patch of green.
It’s overgrown and jungle-like in places.
You don’t have hours and hours to devote to the project, but you want to do something that creates a visible impact in a short space of time.
As with business problems, there can appear a heap of things to do.
The key is to start with one thing, like transforming one bed or one part of the space.
Begin by clearing all the weeds and the plants you don’t want.
Then, feed and improve the soil in that area.
Choose plants that will work best with the light and soil in that part of your garden.
Dig them in, feed and water them.
Then, stand back and admire the visual impact you’ve created in a short space of time.
Next year, those new plants will look even bigger and better.
Repeat the formula elsewhere as and when you have the time.
So it is with those business issues mentioned above.
Work on one problem thoroughly.
Decide on the steps required at the core.
Be clear about the result that will show a positive change has been achieved.
Then, move to the next problem or issue.
Just like the fictitious flower bed, the changes you make now will yield even greater results in the longer term.
Very best,
