“Experts” can be wrong

25/01/24Posted in Direct Marketing, Marketing, Trade Shows

Two years ago, you couldn’t take part in a trade show for love nor money.

They were banned.

Closed by COVID-19.

The doors of venues across the world were shut tight for almost two years.

Many digital marketers proclaimed that the trade show dinosaur was finally dead.

And about time, so those gurus sagely explained.

Trade shows were passe.

There were old-fashioned, redundant and a heap of other uncomplimentary things.

What those experts didn’t realise was that the businesses that used trade shows were missing them hugely.

Unlike those sceptics, they knew the value events contributed to their sales.

It’s why they and buyers have been flocking back ever since events reopened in 2022.

Luckily, the owners of ExCeL London and Olympia didn’t believe the prophets of doom either.

ExCeL are in the process of adding a further 25% of exhibition and conference space while Olympia is rebuilding the whole venue.

And growth is not only happening in London.

Last year, the NEC Birmingham reported its highest-ever number of new events in their calendar.

What does that all mean for you?

Undoubtedly, it means more opportunities to meet and sell to businesses that could help yours grow.

Those digital gurus were wrong about something else, too.

They didn’t know that digital combined with live marketing is what many businesses have been doing for some time.

That’s the subject of this course.

Very best,

David O’Beirne
