What do you call a nervous javelin thrower?

“Did you hear the one about the nervous javelin thrower?”

“No, what’s their name?”

“Shakespeare.”

Yes, week two of the Olympics is well underway.

Track and field events are in full swing, as are my bad jokes.

For the non-Olympians among us, this is Week 32 of 2024.

Has it been as successful as you intended it to be?

If not, you still have twenty weeks to make things happen.

The first step is to create a plan.

Athletes make and follow detailed training plans.

Each has a particular event in mind.

They need to think four years ahead to qualify for an Olympic event.

Within their plan, they need to factor in competing and doing well in tournaments that will help them qualify for Olympic selection.

They may have to overcome injuries.

They will have to maintain fitness.

It’s why they have training schedules and coaches.

They usually also have access to experts in diet and, increasingly, mental fitness.

Look at your schedule now if you want or need to achieve something meaningful before the year-end.

Where can you free time to concentrate on the things that move you to your goal?

Where are the opportunities to “Hack out the unessentials” (Bruce Lee)?

You won’t need to live like a monk, as some athletes do, to achieve their goals.

Just follow your plan and put more time into what’s really important.

And if achieving more sales from trade shows is an objective, this guide can help.

Think of it as coaching in one very underrated aspect of trade show marketing.

Very best,
