You’ve probably seen or heard news coverage about crumbling schools and hospitals here in the UK.
Twenty to thirty years ago, many were built or expanded using a weaker and cheaper type of concrete.
Money saved then is causing a very expensive and dangerous problem now.
It’s why a news story from Australia caught my beady eye.
A team of scientists down under has produced concrete that’s approximately 30% stronger.
They’ve done this by replacing 15% of the mixture’s sand with charred coffee grounds.
The discovery was made during a project seeking to minimise food waste.
Australia produces 75,000 metric tons of coffee waste annually.
And all of it could be repurposed as a partial substitute for sand in concrete production.
That’s a big win for the environment and a reduction in the use of natural resources.
Here’s to the same thing happening here and anywhere else that produces or uses concrete.
Wouldn’t it be great to know that apart from enjoying that morning booster, you were also helping to keep hospitals and schools standing.
Repurposing and making more of the marketing tools you already have is a core theme of how we work with clients.
Today, you can access that thinking for the equivalent cost of about fifteen cups of the brew.
But only if you purchase High Value Skills before midnight tonight.
After that, the price, like Australian concrete, will increase in strength.
Very best,
