Why trade show stands are a bit like icebergs

An image of an iceberg to illustrate this post. meets the eye. This post highlights what visitors don't see when they look at finished stands at trade shows.

Here’s why trade show stands remind me of icebergs.

  • Like icebergs, trade show stands come in various shapes and sizes
  • The largest float serenely all by themselves on the show floor
  • Smaller units are packed together in groups of islands around the hall
  • Beneath the smooth and shiny surface visitors see on opening morning, there’s a huge chunk of work

When you analyse what it takes to get a ‘berg in place, it’s quite a list.

Here are just some of the things likely to be on a typical stand management “To Do” list.

  • Stand design
  • Approval for stand design
  • Payments for space and suppliers
  • Sourcing products
  • Designing graphics
  • Assembling the stand team
  • Briefing stand team
  • Booking temporary staff
  • Booking hotels and travel
  • Sourcing digital screens
  • Arranging content for screens
  • On-stand catering
  • Arrangements for VIP guests
  • Giveaways
  • Stand attractions
  • Filling forms for insurance, Risk Assessments, Show Guide entries
  • Ordering power and WiFi supply with the venue
  • Pre and post-event marketing
  • Lead management devices
  • Arrangements for following up

Even a modest stand has a lot of ice beneath it.

The Trade Show Stand Management Course, Part 1, will help you make short work of getting organised before an event,

It’s a six-part course, delivered in bite-size chunks, making the organising process less daunting and complicated.

See this page on our website to melt away the tasks from your next iceberg.

It contains full details of what’s covered and how to order.

Very best,

David
