It’s not just Arab princes that roll up with large amounts of cash in carrier bags.
Some years back, a visitor to a consumer event I was running purchased stock market shares with cash drawn from a tatty plastic carrier bag.
Before the purchase, the stand team had thought about asking their visitor to leave.
The man was dressed very shabbily, with a string instead of a belt tying his raincoat, and he was also (being polite) a little unkempt.
However, it turns out he had £100k in banknotes in that bag.
This was back in the day when £100k was actually worth something.
Interestingly, he had conveyed himself and the lolly from the far side of London by tube.
Perhaps he used his appearance as a failsafe security device.
The moral of the story is that you never know who you’ll meet when you exhibit nor how your business can be transformed by even one subsequent show-related deal.
I’ve collected many similar tales supplied by delighted and sometimes mystified exhibitors.
The most common case in trade shows is when a completely new application is found for an existing product.
Often, it’s something that’s been around for many years.
Then someone comes along and sees a solution to a problem they’ve encountered, and a whole new lease of sales life begins for the product or service.
Perhaps you have an exhibiting success story like this already, but if not, I can help you find your own.
Purchasing my Trade Show Stand Mastery course would be an excellent way to start the process.
It’s delivered direct to your inbox, and you don’t need to put vast amounts of cash into a holdall or carrier bag to buy it.
