Every industry spawns terminology.
Much of it is confusing or intelligible to those on the outside.
With that in mind, today, I bring you Zebras.
No, not those horse-like animals in striped outfits, but Zebra companies.
That’s as opposed to Unicorn businesses or pink or white elephants.
So, what is a Zebra business?
According to Kim Folsom, Co-Founder of First Capital Partners, a Zebra is a business with annual revenues between $2 and $10 million.
A Unicorn, on the other hand, has billions in annual revenue.
Unlike those shy Zebras, Unicorns may be well known to many people worldwide.
Zebra businesses can be highly profitable, which is why Mr Folsom likes to invest in them.
They have steady growth in revenue and profit.
I like Zebras and, unknowingly (up until now), have worked with many.
Most of the work has been in sales development.
It’s where we can make a difference to a Zebra seeking strong and steady growth.
If that sounds helpful and you’d like to boost results from your trade shows, direct marketing or both, drop me a line and we can book a call.
Very best,
PS. This course covers many ways to increase sales from trade shows and direct marketing. It’s perfect for Zebras (or any other avatar you choose).
